Berkman, Alexander

Anarchist, associate of Emma Goldman. FH witnessed their "grotesque charicature of a trial" in New York: they had been arrested for inciting men not to register for conscription for the 1914-18 War. Berkman had previously been imprisoned after his non-fatal shooting of the strike-breaker Henry Frick.

After FH's death Berkman claimed to have ghost-written his Bernard Shaw.
